The Indian government started testing its smartphone emergency alert system on July 20, managed by the Department of Telecommunications.

Wireless emergency alerts can be invaluable during various emergency situations, including natural disasters and even wartime.

iPhone users can do so via "Notifications," while Android users can access it under "Safety and Emergency" settings.
